The association is an organisation of Jacobite Syrian
christians residing in the city of Kochi, registered under the Educational
Religious and Charitable Societies Act in the year 1979 with the following objectives.
Establishing and maintaining churches, chapels, cemmetry, etc for his faithful under his holysee of Antioch and All the East.
Establishing educational institutions, hospitals, old age homes,
etc.
Doing social and charitable service among the public irrespective
of their caste and creed
Give assistance to the poor and needy in building or renovating
homes
Awarding educational scholarships and other assistance to economically
backward deserving students
Visit the sick in hospitals and give financial and other assistance
if deserving
Organise conventions and prayer meetings
Render humanitarian assistance in natural calamities, deaths
etc
The charitable activities of this association
was inaugurated by H.B.Baselious Poulous II, the catholicos of the
east, by distributing cloths to the inmates of the relief centre
at palluruthy during the X'mas eve celebration in december 1979.
Educational scholarships are given to deserving
students studying in Pre-degree, degree, professional, technical
courses every year. The first scholarship was distributed by Hon.
Mayor of Cochin during the X'mas eve celebration in 1982. The source
for the funds for these activities are mainly from the contributions
received from the members of the association and the public. A percentage
of the income of the church is also set apart for charitable activities.
